DESCRIPTION:
P. Mason, Somerville N.J., double-decker 8-day brass-works time & strike weight-driven mahogany shelf clock, C.1842.
CONDITION:
Nicely refinished case with few small flaws. Original dark marbleized columns with some gilt, some old painted capitols. Glasses newer, very well done reverse-paint lower tablet. Clean strap movement ticks and strikes on later nickel finished gong (easily replaced). Minute hand too short. Very nice original gilt-gesso painted wood dial with just a few hand-drag lines, needs retaining strip to secure in case. This is a very uncommon label, and use of upstate New York strap movement.
